Learn to create negatives of any size tailored for specific processes (Cyanotype, Vandyke brown etc.) using inkjet printers. (2 days, 6 students.)
March 7: Alternative Photography Workshop – Gum bichromate process | Goa-CAP, Goa.
Gum bichromate is one of the few alternative processes that can produce color images. An introduction to this process, with tips for choosing papers, pigments and trouble shooting problems.(2 days, 6 students).
March 6: Alternative Photography Workshop – Vandyke Brown Prints | Goa-CAP, Goa.
Van Dyke Brown is an early photographic printing process, so named due to the similarity of the rich dark brown print color to that of the oil paint used by Flemish painter Van Dyck. This is a good starting point towards more complicated and expensive alternative processes such as Chrysotype (gold printing) and Platinum-Palladium prints.(2 days, 6 students).
March 5: Alternative Photography Workshop – Salt Prints | Goa-CAP, Goa.
The first paper based printing process ever invented, Salt prints paved the way for modern photography via ability to make multiple copies from a negative image. Today, there are many variations of this process available that improve the quality and reduce the exposure time but at their core they all use very similar chemistry.(2 days, 6 students).
March 4: Alternative Photography Workshop – Traditional Cyanotype Process | Goa-CAP, Goa.
Many of the most popular alternative processes in use today are variants of the non-silver processes developed by Sir John Herschel in 1842 and they are among the oldest of all photographic processes. The first of these, cyanotypes, is the least toxic, easiest to learn and a perfect way to delve into the world of alternative photography. (2 days, 6 students).

March 1: Pinhole Photography Workshop | Anna University School of Architecture and Planning, Chennai.
Pinhole camera is the simplest possible way of creating a photograph. All one needs is a lightproof container, a tiny hole and a light sensitive material (film/digital sensor/photographic paper etc.) In this workshop we will create pinhole cameras from matchboxes using tin cans to make the holes and using color film as light-sensitive material. (1 day, 40 students.)
Feb 16-17: Basic Black and White Photography Workshop: Film Developing. | Surashri, Karve Nagar, Pune.
Learn the art of traditional black and white film photography. Basics of developing black and white film. Lab Safety, Proper handling of film and chemicals, storage and care. Contrast and grain control through development, choices for developers, developing for scanning vs developing for traditional silver gelatin printing. Push and Pull processing. (2 days, 6-8 students.)

In collaboration with Blind with Camera (Beyond Sight Foundation). Workshop for low vision / partial blind people who were previously into photography. Darkroom work to develop films and print black and white photographs. The workshop is supported by Canon India.
